إن مصطلح الشعريَّة من أهم المصطلحات النّقديَّة الأسلوبيَّة في الغرب؛ الذي ترك حوله جدالاً حاداً ورؤى نقديَّة متضاربة بين جمهرة النّقاد الأسلوبيين في الغرب؛ إبتداءً من دي سوسير والشكلانيين الروس، وإنتهاءً بالنّقاد السيميائيين كــ "رولان بارت، وميخائيل باختين، وآخرين"، ولعل من أكثر الصعوبات التي واجهها هذا البحث تعدد وجهات النّظر بين النّقاد حتى ضمن المدرسة النّقدية الواحدة على نحو ما سنلحظه عند أصحاب المدرسة الشكلانيَّة الروسيَّة، وحلقة براغ اللُّغويَّة.
ولعل من أبرز مساعي البحث (الشعريَّة من منظور النّقد الأسلوبي الغربي الحديث)، دراسة مفهوم هذا المصطلح عند جمهرة من النّقاد والأسلوبيين؛ بغيَّة دراسة مظاهر الإختلاف والإئتلاف بين النّقاد في تحديدهم لهذا المصطلح، وإنعكاس هذا الأثر على نظريَّة التلقي التي لاقت رواجاً واسعاً في الغرب على أيدي كبار نقاد نظريَّة التلقي، كــ (أمبرتو إيكو، وجان تادييه، وجويس، وروبرت هانز... وآخرين).
وقد وقع هذا الكتاب في فصلين متكاملين، الفصل الأول: (الشعريَّة من وجهة نظر النقد الأسلوبي الغربي)، والفصل الثاني: (الشعريَّة ونظريَّة التلقي عند النّقاد الأسلوبيين في الغرب)، كل فصل منهما يكمَّل الآخر، ويضع المتلقي في دائرة التفاعل والحوار مع مضمون الفصلين، دون أن يتركه جامداً لا يمارس سلطته التفاعليَّة مع الكتاب ناقداً ومحاوراً... أكثر من كونه متلقياً ساذجاً لأفكاره ورؤاه.
