تمتاز القصيدة عند البرغوثي بمزاوجتها بين إيقاع شعر التفعيلة، والإيقاع العمودي الكلاسيكي، وهذه المزاوجة ساهمت في تكثيف رؤيته والتعبير عنها بطرائق جديدة مبتكرة، تؤكّد شاعريّته ،ومهارته في صوغ لغة شعريّة مثيرة، إنَّ أبرز مايميّز شعريّة البرغوثي طريقة بنائه للقصيدة، فهو يبنيها على القفلة الشاعريّة الدهشة التيتتجاوز البناء السطحي الساذج، محاولاً بناء القصيدة كاملة على ركائز فنّيّة. تقف قصائد تميم على قضايا وجوديّة كبرى، وقضايا قوميّة كبرى، فهو شاعر شمولي الرؤية واسع المنظور، عميق الحسّو الإدراك، ومرهف الأسلوب الإبداعي، يلوِّن في أساليب قصائده تبعاً لمثيرات التشكيل وطريقة البناء، وهو ذو موهبة فذّة في التقاط المشهد وتصويره بواقعية حسّيّة حيَّة مباشرة حيناً، وبترسيم ذهني تخييلي بعيد حيناً آخر. تمتاز قصائده بمزاوجتها بين أسلوب السؤال، والنداء، وأسلوب السرد والحوار ،لخلق حركةجدليّة صاخبة ضمن الدفقة الشعريّة الواحد. إنَّ شعريّة البرغوثي ترتكز على مثيرات الصورة الحركة، أو الصورة التقريعيّة ذات الزخم الانفعالي، والاحتجاج الغاضب، لهذا يطغى على قصائده إيقاع الأصوات المجهورة الحادة الصاخبة على إيقاع الأصوات المهموسة، ما يجعل نفسه الشعري نفساً حادّاً عنيفاً في كثير من الحالات، خاصّة في الشكل العمودي.
