نتناول الدراسة آلات النفخ الخشبية الشعبية خلال من سياقها الوظيفي في الإبداع الفني الشعبي في مصر، وفي بعض البلاد العربية، باعتبار أن هذه الآلات هي الأكثر انتشاراً، والأكثر تماثلاً، وقد حرصت الدراسة على تتبع هذه الآلات بقدر الإستطاعة، ورصد ألحانها، وتحليلها، وذلك من حيث دراسة هذه الآلات بجملها الموسيقية المتميزة وألحانها الشائعة، التي أعطت ملامح خاصة للتراث والمآثورات الفنية الموسيقية في مصر والكويت والأردن وتونس، والتي تمثل كل منها منطقة جغرافية، خاصة في مجال الثقافة العربية، وقد حرصت الدراسة على أن تقدم نماذج من الآداء الموسيقى الشائع المصاحب لبعض هذه الآلات الموسيقية، بهدف الكشف عن أوجه التشابه والاختلاف في البناء الشكلي والموسيقى، وتحليل عناصر مقطوعات موسيقية من كل آلة تناولتها الدراسة، كما تضمنت الدراسة نماذج لحنية وتحليلاً للبناء الإيقاعي المصاحب لهذه الألحان مع تدوين الألحان التي اعتمدت عليها الدراسة تدوينا علمياً، مع تحليل دقيق لهذه الألحان.
