شكّلت عقلية الماضي التي تهيمن على تصوّرات بعض المسلمين اليوم أزمة كبيرة حالت دون تناولهم مفاهيم الإسلام ودروسه وأصوله وتاريخه تناولاً صحيحاً، ومن جانب آخر شكّلت أيضاً أزمة في التعامل مع "الآخر" من حيث قبوله والتعايش معه.
وتتجلى هذه الأزمة اليوم في ذلك الصدام المفتعل بين الشيعة والسنّة على أساس قضايا مزعومة هي من خلق الماضي، لا صلة لها بالحاضر، وعلى رأس هذه القضايا قضية "ابن سبأ" وما تمّ ربطه به من أحداث ومفاهيم ومعتقدات هي أقرب إلى الخيال منها إلى الواقع؛ ولقد سقط الكثير من الباحثين المعاصرين ممّن سلموا أنفسهم لعقلية الماضي، ضحية هذه الشخصية المزعومة، وقام ببناء صرح من المفاهيم والمعتقدات على أساس هذه الشخصية لكنه كان صرحاً من الرمال، لم يصمد طويلاً أمام رياح الواقع.
كانت شخصية "ابن سبأ" من صنع بعض كتب الفرق بعد سنة 310هـ على ما سيتبيّن للقارئ من خلال هذا الكتاب، وإعتماداً على عقلية الماضي لم يبذل الباحثون القدر الكافي من الجهد العلمي والمنهجي حول هذه الشخصية المزعومة، بل تلفّقوها من الماضي كما لو كانت نصّاً صريحاً متواتراً، وكان الأجدر بهؤلاء أن يتحلوا بالموضوعية والعدل الذي هو روح الإسلام وأساسه قبل تبنّيهم هذه الشخصية الخيالية ودفاعهم عنها، ذلك الموقف الذي تسبّب في إثارة الشبهات حول قطاع كبير من المسلمين، والتشكيك في معتقداتهم، ممّا نتج عنه إثارة الفرقة والشقاق بين هذا القطاع، المتمثل في الشيعة، وبين قطاعات المسلمين الأخرى.
هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا، وهو كتاب "عبد الله بن سبأ" بين الواقع والخيال لم نعمد فيه إلى تهشيم العناصر الصحيحة لهذه المفردة التاريخية، كأن نتناول عنصراً سلبياً يضرّ بالحالة الإسلامية والتراث الإسلامي المجتمع عليه، بل حرصنا على تناول هذه المفردة التاريخية من خلال عناصرها المختلفة، والإنطلاق في بحثها من منطلق المصلحة الإسلامية العليا، وحفظاً للأمانة التاريخية، بغضّ النظر عن الهوية الذهبية الخاصة للسنّة أو الشيعة، وإنما من خلال خطاب العقل الإسلامي المحسوب على الإسلام، الحامل لهموم الرسالة.
