عن الكرد في مؤلفات المقريزي التاريخية تتمحور دراسة الدكتور فرهاد حاجي عبوش في هذا الإصدار، الذي اقتصر على خمس مؤلفات للمقريزي فقط وهي كما يشير المؤلف: "إتعاظ الحنفا بأخبار الأئمة الفاطميين الخلفا" ؛ و "درر العقود الفريدة في تراجم الأعيان المفيدة" ، , "السلوك لمعرفة دول الملوك" ، و "كتاب المقفى الكبير" و "المواعظ والإعتبار بذكر الخطط والآثار" المعروف بالخطط المقريزية.
تتألف الدراسة من أربعة فصول خصص الفصل الأول للحديث عن حياة المقريزي وآثاره العلمية ونشأته وعصره، وخصص الفصل الثاني لدراسة مصادر المقريزي عن الكُرد ولمشاهداته الميدانية التي وقف عليها بنفسه، وهي كثيرة وذات أهمية، تتضمن معلومات لا تتوفر في مصادر أخرى. وتضمن الفصل الثالث تاريخ الكُرد وبلادهم كما وردت في مؤلفات المقريزي، خلال عصور مختلفة من التاريخ الإسلامي.
وخصص الفصل الرابع والأخير لدراسة تاريخ الكُرد في بلاد الشام ومصر كما وردت في مؤلفات المقريزي التاريخية لعبت فيها الشخصيات الكردية دوراً هاماً في مجال الإدارة خلال العهدين الأخشيدي والفاطمي في بلاد الشام ومصر ... هذا بالإضافة إلى ذكر المؤلف لأهم رواد علماء التصوف والفقه والعلوم الإنسانية والعلوم البحتة من الأكراد. وختم الكتاب بتسليط الضوء على دور الكُرد في النشاط العمراني، ومنها بناء المساجد والمدارس والحمامات والخانات وغير ذلك.
