" . أما الهدف من الكتاب فهو تسليط الضوء على تاريخ القوات اللبنانية والمراحل التي مرت فيها ، وعن هيكليتها وعن مرتكزاتها الأساسية : ( لبنان - المسيحية - التاريخ - المستقبل - الثورة - المقاومة - الإلتزام ) ومواجهتها للمخططات السورية والفلسطينية والإسرائيلية ، ولهذا يتحدث المؤلف في كتابه عن الشهداء الذين سقطوا دفاعاً عن لبنان في مرحلة مصيرية من تاريخه الحديث ضمن صراع الوجود الذي يمتد على سنين من النضال المسيحي كما يبين كيف واجه لبنان أحلام المشاريع التي تضر بمصلحة شعبه ، مثل أوهام سورية الكبرى وفلسطين البديلة وإسرائيل التوراتية وإيران وولاية الفقيه .
وفي الكتاب أيضاً مشاهد من هزيمة العرب عام 1967م ، وتعاظم شأن الفلسطينيين المسلحين في المخيمات وإقليم العرقوب والمجازر المتلاحقة في البقاع وحرب الأشرفية ومعارك الشمال واستشهاد بشير الجميل ، وحرب الجبل ، وبين هذا وذاك يبرز قائد القوات اللبنانية الذي دامت زنزانته لأكثر من أحد عشر عاماً دون التنازل عن مبادئه وحلمه بوطن مستقل .
