أنشدت قصيدة "بانت سعاد" بين يدي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وفي مدحه، وقد نالت عظيم القبول والإعجاب من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فخلع بردته ودفعها إلى كعب بن زهير إعجاباً بها، وكان ذلك سبباً لاحتفاء المسلمين على مرّ عصورهم بهذه القصيدة، واعتبارها أساساً لقصائد المديح النبوي.
وفي شرحه للقصيدة، استطاع العلامة الشيخ الباجوري، أن يوضح ما اشتملت عليه من نعوت الحضرة النبوية، وأوصاف أصحابه المرضية، وأن يشرح ما بها من الفوائد الأدبية، فلم يترك ناحية من نواحي نظمها وبنائها إلا تناولها بالتحليل والتفصيل، فشرح ألفاظها، ووضح غريبها، وضبط كلماتها، وحقق رواياتها، وأبان عن وجوه إعرابها، وكشف عن أساليب بلاغتها، وسمو بيانها، ومظاهر تفردها وإبداعها.
