"تدخل زهرة غرفة أحمد وهي تقول بلهجة فرح وانتصار. وتتوقف عند الباب زهرة: دكتور سامي... جئت بالغارامايسين. وجه سامي مليء بالحزن. وجه سعاد مليء بالدموع. وجه سلام مليء بالناس. سرير أحمد كله مغطى بشرشف أبيض. تفتح زهرة عينيها على سعتهما. لا تصدق. ينفتح فمها بصيحة تامة. عيناها مجزئتان. تهز رأسها. ترفع يدها بعلبة الأدوية، تمدها إلى سامي، تتحرك شفتاها من دون صوت غارامايسين. لا يتحرك أحد. ينظرون إليها بحزن وأسى. زهرة مذهولة. محبطة. ثم غاضبة. ترفع العلبة إلى أعلى تهز رأسها بالرفض. ترمي العلبة بأقصى قوتها إلى الأرض تصيح بأعلى صوت، بصرخة طويلة تستمر مع حركة سقوط العلبة على الأرض. زهرة لسعد؟!! تفتح العلبة. تتهشم أمبولات الغرامايسين وتنتشر على أرض الغرفة. صدى صوت زهرة يرافقه الحركة الأخيرة". أنه واقع العراق، ومأساة أطفاله.
