بهنام عطا الله شاعرٌ سبعيني عراقي ينتمي إلى جيل اللحظة الحرجة وهو جيل شهد التحولات الشعرية وهي تتخذ من ثقافة المدنية والمجتمع والسياسة وأبعادها ثيمة لها، وقد أفاد الشاعر من ثيمة التداخل الأجناس الحكائي والسردي والدرامي والسير ذاتي والأسطوري، ووظفها في أعماله، على أساس أن هذه الفنون (الأجناس) كلها أنما تصدر من ملكة إنسانية واحدة.
يشكل الكتاب قراءة في نصوص بهنام عطا الله، اختار له مؤلفه بشير إبراهيم سوادي عنوان "أسئلة الذات الشعرية"، والذات الشعرية هنا، تنتمي إلى شخصية الشاعر وتسعى في الوقت ذاته إلى الإنفصال عنه، في لعبة شعرية إشكالية يسهم فيها الوعي الشعري والرؤية الشعرية على صعيد فضاء الداخل الشعري، وقد حمّل الشاعر بهذا الأسلوب الرؤيا الشعرية مشعل التجديد والتحديث، فأعاد تشكيل عناصر النص الشعري، من حيث الإيقاع والصورة الشعرية، بتأويل عوالم كل قصيدة ودلالاتها، في إرتباطها بمستويات الحلم والخيال الخصب، الشيء الذي يكشف عن موهبة وإبداع وقدرة على إعادة تشكيل الواقع من خلال القصيدة.
والكتاب لا يقتصر على قراءة المؤلف لشعرية بهنام عطا الله، بل يقدم دراسات أخرى مرتبطة بنصه، تمثل مجموعة رؤى متعددة الزوايا تتمعن في شعر بهنام عطا الله ومنها: "قراءة في مقدمة ديوان بهنام عطا الله: صياغة الشعرية مقدماتياً" للأديب محمد يونس صالح، ودراسة حول "البعد الزمكاني وفضاء الصورة في شعر بهنام عطا الله" للكاتبة إسراء عبد المنعم حمودي، وقراءة أخرى بعنوان "السير ذاتي والأسطوري في شعر بهنام عطا الله" للناقد بشير إبراهيم سوادي، ودراسة نقدية بعنوان "بهنام عطا الله شاعر اللحظة الحرجة... بلاغة العنوان وإنسيابية تتسربل بغموض" للأديب محمد مطلك صالح الجميلي، كل واحد من هؤلاء النقاد يدرس جانباً من جوانب شعرية بهنام عطا الله وذلك وفق معايير نقدية خاصة تنعي تقانات الدرس النقدي وإشتغالاته الحداثوية... وينتهي ا لكتاب بقصائد مختارة.
