لاشك أن التفسير الديني له مدخل أوسع، هو تفسير الحياة ذاتها، وإن أسبقية العقل على الوحي في الوجود هي ذاتها ما كانت من أسبقية الحياة على الدين، تلك الأسبقية التي تجعل الدين من أجل الحياة، ليس العكس، ولا تجب الصلاة لمجرد أنها تنهي عن قبيح؛ لأنه من الجائز أن يترك المكلف الصلاة ولا يفعل الفاسد، وقد يتركها إلى مفسدة، وقد يؤديها ولا يترك الفساد, كيف ؟ ولماذا نقدس أشياءً وأشخاصاً وقد نهانا الذي (ليس كمثله شئ) عن تقديس ما هو دونه تعالى...؟،ليس الفعل قبيحاً لأن الله نهى عنه، بل إن الله نهى عنه لأنه قبيح، وقد علمنا قبحه بالعقل، كما إن الإستبداد منفرداً يعد خطيئة إنسانية كبرى، فما بالك إذا اقترن بالدين، وكانت مزاولته السياسية باسمه، ولقد بين الله تعالى لنا ما يقبح بالشرع، وعلمنا أنه يقبح لأنه مفسدة، وكلفنا الإمتناع عنه لأجل قبحه وليس من أجل الثواب فحسب، ولا قيمة للقرآن في غياب العقل. وهو الآلة التي نعرف بها حقائقه، والأداة التي تستخرج بها معانيه الدقيقة، ليس الشك إثماً ولا قبحاً... إنما يكون الشك قبيحاً لو ظل الإنسان على حاله من الشك.
