وقد اعتمد نيافته على المصادر الأجنبية والعربية، والمخطوطات التى اطلع عليها بالأديرة، في أوائل القرن الماضي.
وهو الوحيد الذي يلخص المعلومات التاريجية ويحللها وينقدها ويعلق عليها بأسلوب علمي مقنع وسهل ولازم كنهاج لكل الباحثين والدراسين لتاريخ الكنيسة، في كل المعاهد الدينية في مصر وبلاد المهجر ولكل محبي التاريخ المقدس. وقد تم وضع الجزئين في مجلد واحد كما اعتدنا عليه م قبل.
