وقد ألف هذا الكتاب بقصد مساعدة رجال الأعمال الذين يريدون القيام بمغامرة جديدة في مجال طلاءات السطح، وقد كتب الكتاب بلغة واضحة جداً يستطيع فهمها من ليست عنده أية معلومات مسبقة عن الموضوع، حيث تضمن الكتاب كل التطورات الحديثة في مجال صناعة الدهانات، وتحدث بالتفصيل عن المواد المتعلقة بصنع الدهان وطريقة الصنع والمحاذير التي يجب إتخاذها خلال التصنيع.
والبارز في هذا الكتاب هو أنه يتضمن طريقة الطلاء بالمساحيق والمواد الأساسية المستعملة، وطرق التركيب وطريقة العمل وطرق الإستخدام ومجالات إستعماله، وقد أدخل المؤلف عدة تراكيب حديثة مع ذكر مختلف خصائصها مع بحث ملاءمتها وحدود إستعمالها، كما بحث معظم العيوب التي تظهر على سطح الطلاء بشكل مستفيض مع ذكر الأسباب والعلاج، أما إعداد الخضابات والزيوت فقد ذكرها مكثفة لكي يتجنب زيادة حجم الكتاب.
