إن إغشية البلاستيك و الرقاقات إضافات جديدة لاستخدام البلاستيك في التغليف و البناء و الاستخدامات الصناعية. و يتم تصفيح البلاستيك و تكسية المنتجات فوق الورق و الأقمشة و الألياف و رقائق الألو منيوم مع صفائح عادية كانت في البداية شائعة وهذه الأغشية؟ وحدها توضح سبب أهمية منتجات هذه الصناعة تستعمل أغشية البلاستيك و الرقاقات في الهند كمواد للتعليب, للمواد الاستهلاكية المتينة و كمنتجات صناعية. و على الرغم من ارتفاع ثمن النفتا الذي أدى إلى ارتفاع ثمن مواد البلاستيك الخام و المنتجات المصنوعة, فقد كثر الطلب على المنتجات المطلية و المصفحة بالبلاستيك. و قد زاد استهلاكها في البلد بنسبة تقدر ب10-15%بالنسبة. و قد كان هذا الكتاب محاولة لشرح معظم و أهم ما عرف عن طريقة التكسية و عملية التصفيح (التغشية)مع استعمال أنواع مختلفة من البلاستيك فوق مختلف المواد, هناك عة مصانع فقط لتصميم الأجهزة المناسبة للتغشية(coatinj) و التصفيح للمواد البلاستيكية في الهند. إن عملية تصنيع الغشاءات و الرقاقات تعتمد تماماً علىالتصميم لتلك الآلات. أما ظروف التشغيل و التقنيات الخاصة التي قد لخصت في هذا الكتاب فيمكن أن تفيد للارشاد فقط. و بما أن ارتفاع أكلاف استيراد الخبرة و تركيب الآلات , بحاجة إلى تطور محلي في مجال يعتبر ضرورياً. ,و سيجد الصانع في هذا الكتاب مبادىء التغشية و التصفيح. كما سيجد أيضاً خططاً لمشاريع مختلفة ليختار منها المجال الوارد في هذا الكتاب حول التغشية و التصفيح و سيجد أيضاً خططاً لتصاميم ينتقى منها ما يتعلق بمجال التغشية و التصفيح. كما يفيد الذي له علاقة بصناعة البلاستيك, و ليست لديه أية مراجع تتعلق بهذا المجال.
