ويتحدث الكتاب بداية عن ما هو نظام الإدخال و الإخراج bios الذي هو مجموعة من البرامج المخزنة في الحاسبات المتوافقة مع IBM تتحكم بعمليات نقل البيانات والمعطيات بين عناصر الكمبيوتر, كما تتولى مهمة إصدار تعليمات التحكم بملحقات الجهاز كالسواقات وغيرها. ثم يتحدث عن أوامر تعديل الإعدادات. و بعدها تم إدراج الخيارات المتاحة للإعدادات بحسب التسلسل الأبجدي لأسمائها .
