يتناول الكتاب تحليل جداول المدخلات والمخرجات الصناعية. وهو يتضمن ثمان فصول يناقش الفصلان الأول والثاني التطور التاريخي لنموذج المدخلات والمخرجات ابتداءاً من كيناي (المدرسة الطبيعية) وانتهاءً بليونتيف (المدرسة الحديثة). أما الفصل الثالث فقد تعرض لدراسة علاقة جدول المدخلالت والمخرجات بالحسابات الاقتصادية والموازين الاقتصادية. وقد تعرض هذا الجزء للمقارنة بين أسلوب التحليل الاقتصادي المستند إلى المدخلات والمخرجات وبين كل من أسلوب التحليل الكلي والجزئي السائدين في الكتابات الاقتصادية. أما الفصل الرابع فيعرج على دراسة التشابك الاقتصادي، وهو جزء تعريفي وكمي. أما الفصل الخامس فيناقش النموذج المقترح لاختيار الأولويات الإنمائية للقطاعات الاقتصادية لدولة الكويت. أما الفصل السادس فهو يناقش نموذج المدخلات والمخرجات والبرمجة الخطية.
ويتجه الكاتب في الفصل السابع إلى فحص نموذج ليونتيف للتشابك القطاعي سواء أكانت النماذج الاستاتيكية أم المتحركة. أما الفصل الثامن فقد تعرض للاستخدامات العملية لجداول المدخلات والمخرجات. والكتاب يمثل جهداً علمياً مرموقاً في موضوع من أدق مواضيع التحليل الاقتصادي الكمي.
