مع اتساع حركة التجارة وتطورها ، وظهور أنماط جديدة من الشركات الكبرى في العالم ، ظهرت أشكال جديدة من العقود التجارية لم تكن معروفة من قبل. فمن ناحية ، أصبح السوق المحلي لا يكفي لاستيعاب إنتاج هذه الشركات الكبيرة التى قامت في الأصل على أساس جمع أكبر عدد من الشركاء وأكبر قدر من المال لتحقيق أكبر قدر من الأرباح، وبدأت هذه الشركات تتطلع إلى تصريف منتجاتها خارج حدودها الإقليمية في دول عديدة من العالم. ومن ناحية أخرى ، ظهرت أساليب تكنولوجية جديدة وظهرت معها سلع بيست متاحة لدول عديدة فى العالم. ومن ثم ، بدأت تلك الدول في التطلع للحصول على هذه السلع من تلك الشركات.
ولقد لجأت هذه الشركات إلى تصريف منتجاتها إما بنفسها مباشرة إلى عملائها أو عن طريق وكلاء أو وسطاء تجاريين ومن هنا ظهرت عقود البيع الدولى للبضائع ونتيجة لحجم تعاملات الشركات التى زادت وسعيها الدءوب لجذب مزيد من العملاء فقد لجأت هذه الشركات إلى تعيين وكلاء لها في أقاليم الدول الأخرى أو التعامل عبر شبكة من الوسطاء في أنحاء العالم فظهرت عقود الوكالة التجارية بكل أشكالها فظهرت بالتالي الحاجة إلى الإلمام بمصطلحات التجارة الدولية فقام المؤلف بنشر هذا الكتاب الذى يغطي هذا الجانب المهم من الموضوع وتناوله من زاويتين القانونية واللغوية وقد اهتم بمواضيع نشأة وطبيعة العقود التجارية وعقد البيع التجاري وعقود الوكالة والوساطة التجارية وعقد الترخيص باستخدام براءة الاختراع وعقود الشركات التجارية.
