هذا الكتاب هو لإمام عصره حقاً العلامة الإمام المحدث شاه ولي الله أحمد بن عبد الرحيم الدهلوي، العمري النسب، العلوي النسبة، المحمدي التعليم. وهو من الأئمة الربانيين الذي أحيا الله بهم علوم الشريعة والطريقة والحقيقة في بلاد الهند، وامتد أثره إلى كل بقعة في ديار الإسلام، حتى وصل منها إلى مصر طرف عظيم على يد العلامة الإمام المرتضى الزبيدي صاحب "تاج العروس" وشارح الإحياء، الذي أجازه الإمام الدهلوي بإجازاته الحديثية، ثم رحل إلى مصر ونشر ألوية علمه في أزهرها، ومنه إلى بقية ديار الإسلام.
وعلى الجملة فالإمام الدهلوي واحد من مجددي الدين وعظماء الملة الإسلامية، وكتبه- صغرت في حجمها أم كبرت- هي فرائد غير مسبوقة. ومنها هذه الرسالة التي تجمع ما لا يمكن الاستغناء عنه من الفوائد. وقد أضاف إليها الشيخ محمد صادق المدارسي الهندي فوائد من عنده، فزادها رونقاً وإفادة.
