وقد أضاف إلى تلك الموضوعات القانونية موضوعات فكرية مختارة، كون أن القانوني يتعين عليه أن يفكر أيضاً فيما هو أبعد من الفكر القانوني أو الممارسة القضائية، وإلا بماذا نفسر تبوأ بعض الأشخاص من أصحاب الخلفيات الأكاديمية القانونية مناصب عليا على مستوى العام كرؤساء دول أو رؤساء وزراء أو وزراء أو مدراء في مؤسسات المجتمع المدني؟.
ويحضر المؤلف في هذا السياق قصة سمعها من أحد الأشخاص الذي أصبح بعد تخرجه بفترة نائباً عاماً يشار له بالبنان، حيث أفاد أنه وبعد قيامه بإنهاء دراسة الثانوية العامة بنجاح وقبوله للدراسة في جامعة القاهرة (التي كانت تسمى آنذاك جامعة فؤاد الأول) قامت عائلته بعمل حفل إستقبال دعي له كافة الأقارب والزملاء وبعض شخصيات المجتمع، كون أن دلالة قبوله للدراسة في كلية الحقوق في تلك الفترة كانت تعني الكثير لعائلته ومجتمعه، وأنه حين عودته سالماً سوف يكون ذو شأن كبير، وهو ما كان.
