القارئ ال‘يجابى هو من يقرأ ليستفيد ويزداد علما ووعيا وإدراكاً ولكنه فى نفس الوقت لا يكون تعامله مع أفكار الكاتب ومع ما يطرحه المؤلف أو ما تتضمنه صفحات الكتاب كالريشة فى مهب الريح، بل يكون فى نفس لحظات القراءة حاضر البديهية ومستعدا لنقاش أفكار المؤلف وما تتضمنه ثنايا الكتب من أطروحات، إنه على أهبة الاستعداد أن يقول لما لا يعلمه (ربما سأتبين الأمر وسأدرسه) وجلهز تمام الجاهزية ليقول لما يراه خطأ (هذا فى نظرى خلاف الصواب لكن ربما للكاتب أدلته التى لا أعلمها) (سأبحث الأمر) وعندما يرى فكرة صائبة وجميلة ومقتنعة فإنه يسجلها ويحرص على التأكد من مدى مطابقة ما يقتنع به مع الحقائق الخالدة (إذ ربما كانت قناعتنا تحتاج إلى تصويب) وحين يرىأن الكاتب يقدم فكرة (مخالفة لما يراه) لكنه يدعمها بأدلة (عملية لا عاطفية) فلغة خطاب العاطفة أحياناً تكون بعيدة عن العملية المطلوبة فإنه مستعد للعدول عن رأيه إلى رأى الكاتب، أما القارئ السلبى فهو سهل الانقياد لأطروحات الآخرين فهو ليس لديه الاستعداد أن يقول للكاتب ولا للكتاب (ربما) ولا (سأثبت) ولا (سأدرس المسألة) ولا (هل هذا معقول) ولا ولا ولا... بل هو مقتنع تماما بكل ما يقؤه من أفكار، وفى هذا الكتاب نتطرق مع الكتب بنوع من العلمية وبعيدا عن العاطفة (والإثارة) لأنهما فى الكثير من الأحيان ولو على الأقل من الجانب العلمى يحيدان عن الصواب كثيرا.
