القراءة السريعة أصبحت من الأمور المطلوبة فى عصرنا الحاضر وتوفر لنا الكثير من الوقت، تستطيع أن تزيد من سرعة قراءتك ببذل القليل من الجهد.. أثبتت الأبحاث أن الشخص العادى يستطيع أن يحدث تحسنا يتراوح فيما بين 50 و100% فى سرعة القراءة دون أن يفقد شيئاً من فهمه للمعانى التى يقوم بقراءتها، وثبت أيضاً عدم صحة الاعتقاد الشائع بأن من يقرأ ببطء يفهم أكثر بل العكس يتفوق سريع القراءة عليه بأنه يحصل على أفكار ومعلومات أكثر ممن يقرأ ببطء فة وقت محدد، رغم ما يقال ويشاع عنا نحن العرب من أننا امة (لا تقرأ) فإن الواقع يثبت أن القراءة فعالية أساسية فى حياتنا شئنا أم أبينا، فالطلاب الذين يتلقون العلم فى مختلف المراحل الدراسية وفى الجامعات والذين يعدون بمئات الالاف تشكل القراءة نشاطا رئيسيا لهم، ولانسان العادى طبيبا أو مهندساً، أو محاميا أو فى أى مهنة اخرى تشكل القراءة جزءا هاما من نشاطه اليومى سواء بالاطلاع على الصحف والمجلات أو قراءة كتب متخصصة تلزمه فى عمله، حتى التاجر والصانع ورجل الأعمال مضطر للقراءة، والتعامل مع الكلمة ضمن عمله، وإذا اضفنا لهؤلاء عددا كبيرا من المثقفين والأدباء والفنانين ورجال السياسة والفكر التى تشكل القراءة فعالية أساسية فى حياتهم، ادركنا جيدا أن القراءة جزء اساسى من حياتنا، حتى مع دخول الكمبيوتر والانترنت، فالانترنت ليس إلا كتابا رقميا يستلزم القراءة.
