كثرت الحلقات التي تنشر في وسائل الإعلام المسموعة والمرئية عن ختان الإناث, منها حلقة يوم الأربعاء 10/9/1997م فى إذاعة القاهرة الكبرى, وحلقة يوم الأربعاء 17/9/1997م فى إذاعة القاهرة الكبرى أيضاً, وحلقة شاهدتها في التلفاز المصري يوم5/7/2001م في القناة الأولى في برنامج "كلمة حق", وقد استمرت الحلقة ساعة ونصف, وقد شعرت من خلال مشاهدة هذه الحلقة أن الهدف منها هو تنفير من ختان الإناث, وصد الناس عنه, وبيان أنه ليس مشروعاً, بل هو جريمة, وفيه امتهان للمرأة, ففكرت في بحث هذا الموضوع لدى علماء الدين والأطباء ليظهر هل ختان الإناث جريمة وامتنان لها واعتداء على حقوقها؟ أم هو سنة سنها رسول الله "صلى الله عليه وسلم", وليظهر أيضاً الهدف من وراء هذه الحلقات هل هو الخوف على المرأة المسلمة والحفاظ عليها؟ أم الهدف شيء آخر؟
