"زوجة الغائب" هو المحور العام الذي تدور حوله هذه الدراسة المقارنة بين الشريعة الإسلامية والشريعتين المسيحية واليهودية والقوانين الوضعية، وهدفها إلقاء الضوء على هذه المسألة الهامة والحيوية التي عني الفقهاء على اختلاف مشاربهم بها، والكشف عن دقائقها لجهة أن ثمة ارتباط وثيق بين هذه المسألة وظروف عصرنا الحالي، هذا العصر الذي يتميز بنشوب الحروب واندلاع الفتن، فضلاً عن انتشار ظاهرة الهجرة والسفر للعمل وفي الخارج... هذا ولقد اقتضت طبعة هذه الدراسة أن تأتي في فصول خمسة: عالج الأول منها موقف الشرائع المختلفة-سماوية ووضعية-من وقوع الفرقة بين الزوجين بسبب غيبة الزوج. ثم جاء الفصل الثاني مكملاً لسابقه حيث أوضح موقف هذه الشرائع أيضاً من الآثار المترتبة على هذه الفرقة. أما الفصل الثالث فقد دار محوره حول "نفقة زوجة الغائب" في الشرائع المختلفة. ثم جاءت عودة الزوج الغائب بعد الحكم بموته وزواج امرأته ليكون موضوعاً للفصل الرابع من هذه الدراسة. أما الفصل الخامس والأخير، فقد ضم أهم الصيغ القانونية ونماذج من أحكام القضاء والمحاكم المتعلقة بزوجة الغائب.
