بين يدي القارئ ثلاثة كتب في علم أصول الفقه. فأولها هو التنقيح لصور الشريعة ويمثل المتن. وقد قام مصنفه، بعد ذلك، بوضع شرح عليه سمّاه: التوضيح. وهذا هو الكتاب الثاني، وهو شرح على طريقة القول، وإن كان مصنفه يحاول غالباً أن يجعله شرحاً مزجياً، يجمع بين عبارة المتن (التنقيح) وعبارة الشرح (التوضيح). والكتاب الثالث هو شرح موسع للتوضيح وهو من تصنيف سعد الدين التفتازاني جعله على طريقة القول.
ونظراً لأهمية هذه الكتب فقد تم الاعتناء بتحقيق متنها وذلك بهدف إخراجها بصورة تسهل الإفادة منها عند طالب العلم. وقد تم الاعتماد في إخراج هذا العمل على النسخة المصرية القديمة، فتم إصلاح أخطائها، والإشارة إلى بعضها في الحاشية، وتخريج الآيات الكريمة، والأحاديث الشريفة الواردة فيها، كما وسعى المحقق لضبط مفردات المتن بالحركات، وأعاد توزيع النص إلى فقرات، كما وخرج بعض الشواهد الشعرية وعلّق على بعضها، وأشار إلى بعض الزلات خاصة فيما يتعلق بنسبة بعض الآراء إلى بعض الأعلام أو أحد المذاهب، إضافة إلى فوائد أخرى يجدها القارئ عند المطالعة في هذا الكتاب.
