هذا الكتاب يتناول بعض مظاهر الشخصية اليهودية في الأدب الروسي. ولعل روسيا واحدة من أهم الدول التي عانت ولا تزال تعاني العديد من المصاعب مع القبيلة اليهودية - الصهيونية.
أما الأدب الروسي فهو أحد أهم الآداب وأكثرها من ناحية تناول الشخصية اليهودية وانتقاد سياستها وتصرفاتها المبنية على التعقب والسيطرة والجشع. واستطاع كبار الكتاب والروائيين الروس تصوير الجوانب المتعددة للشخصية اليهودية المرتبطة بتعاليم التوراة والأساطير التي تدفعها دائماً للتعالي النابع أساساً من الإحساس بالدونية. وهذا الكتاب يعرض لنا أربعة نماذج عن طريق عرض أربع مقالات لأربعة كتاب هي: "كمان روتشيلد" لأنطون تشيخوف،"المسألة اليهودية" لفيودر ديستويفسكي، قصة "اليهودي" لإيفانه تورجينيف، و"جدال الأب والابن-جورج جيبيان" ليونيدوبوريس باسترناك. وإذا كان تورجينيف وديستويفسكي وتشيخوف قد تناولوا هذه الشخصية ككتاب من أصل روسي، فإن الكاتب اليهودي الروسي باسترناك لم يكف أبداً عن التنديد بتصرفات تلك الشخصية ومحاولة التنصل من كونه ينتمي إلى مثل تلك القبيلة.
