ومن النجوم الساطعة جداً في سماء الدراسات النحوية والصرفية، بل والصوتية، التي قُدّر لها أن تترك بصمة واضحة ومؤثرة في مسيرة هذه الدراسات، وأن تسهم أيضاً في تطويرها - الإمام العلاّمة ، الرضي الإستراباذي (686ه)، أحد أساطين هذا العلم، وأحد أهم معاقله، وقلاعه المهمة، الذي كان له أثر إيجابي، وإسهام طيّب في مسيرة الدراسات النحوية والصرفية، وأيضاً الصوتية، وذلك من خلال كتابيه اللذين طبّقت شهرتهما الآفاق، وسارت بأخبارهما الركبان، ألا وهما: "شرح الشافية" ، و "شرح الكافية" ، اللذين تضمنا الكثير من الأفكار والآراء الجديدة الجريئة والسديدة، وسط تيّار من المحافظة شديد، سبق فيها عصره ومعاصريه، بل سبق فيها كثيراً من لغويي العصر الحديث، وكشف لنا من خلالهما عن عالم ذي عقل متفتح ،، وبصيرة نافذة، عززهما وشد من أزرهما سعة في الإطلاع، ودقة في الملاحظة، وبراعة في المعالجة، ونعتقد أنه لو قُدّر لأفكار هذا الرجل أن تتابع وتطور كما ينبغي، لكانت الدراسات اللغوية بمختلف مستوياتها، أفضل حالاً مما هي عليه الآن بكثير.
