لم ينل سليمان فياض ـ موضوع الدراسة التطبيقية ـ حظه الكافى من البحث والدراسة، ولم يلق من الاهتمام والتقدير ما يناسب قدره بوصفه كاتبًا كبيرًا؛ لذلك تحاول هذه الدراسة إلقاء الضوء على واحد من أبناء هذا الجيل الذى سعى لكى يثبّت لنفسه مكانًا بين هؤلاء العمالقة، وقد نجح سليمان فياض فى ترسيخ معالم عالمه القصصى بين هؤلاء الكبار؛ فهو تارة ـ كما فى مجموعة "عطشان يا صبايا" ـ يرسى دعائم البيت بالغوص فى أعماق القرية المصرية, وتسجيل أدق تفاصيلها, ورصد حياة من يعيشون فيها، مع الأخذ فى الاعتبار أن ذاته الثانية ككاتب - أو على حد تعبير واين بوث: المؤلف الضمنى ـ تحاول بقوة تغيير بعض الأوضاع التى تئنُّ منها القرية المصرية, وهو فى الوقت نفسه من الذين عاشوا الحلم العربى وثورته، وكذلك كان من الذين عاشوا انهيار هذا الحلم وتداعياته ـ كما فى مجموعة "أحزان حزيران" ـ كل تلك العوالم وغيرها رسمها سليمان فياض بلغة فنية عالية المستوى جيدة الصياغة.
