لم تكن الكتابة الشذريّة وليدة التقنية التي ضيّقت الخناق بمساحاتٍ ضيّقة وعدد أحرف محدود. فقد وُلدت مع فكرة الإنسان الأولى؛ بدءًا من فلاسفة اليونان إلى الشعوب العربيّة بتصنيفها تحت مُسمّى: «الحكم والأمثال»، وصولًا إلى الفلاسفة الأوروبيين. ويُرى أنّها «عدّوة السطحيّة والسطحيين»، لأنها تحملُ عمقًا لافتًا، واختصارًا غامضًا. وحيث إن البعض يرى أن لها أبعادًا تاريخيّة، تعتمد على ما تبقّى من النصوص الطويلة، أو اقتصار الكتابة على أناس دون غيرهم، إلّا أنها انتشرت حاليًا بفعل حاجة الإنسان إلى الجمل القصيرة والعبارات الواضحة، والخالية بالضرورة من الحشو والاستطراد اللذين يستهلكان وقته وجهده. وإن كان الإنسان في قراءته على الإنترنت كــ «الفهد الذي يُطارد فريسته»، في إشارة لسُرعة تنقّله بين الجمل، فمن الطبيعي أن يكون جُهده قاصرًا عن القراءة الطويلة في غيرها. لذا يتضمّن هذا الكتاب مجموعة من الأفكار القابلة للتمدّد اللُغويّ، والتي تُسهم في حفظ وقت وجهد الباحث عن «أفكار مُخلّة» لا يسعها الالتزام بهيئة أو نظام.
