لم يتوصل علماء الطب حتى الآن إلى رأي قاطع في كيفية عمل اللولب ونوعيته، هل هو مانع للحمل أو مجهض له؟ لذا وجد العلماء أنه من المتطلبات الدينية الوقوف على حكمة الفقهي المستنبط من الكتاب والسنة والمذاهب الفقهية وذلك لتحديد ميكانيكية عمله من أجل بلورة موضوع حكمه الشرعي.
وهذا ما دعى الشيخ أحمد البهادلي إلى إعداد هذه المحاضرة التي يضمها هذا الكتاب والذي يتناول فيها المؤلف موضوعات عدة مقسمة على أربعة مباحث: تحدث في الأول عن موانع الحمل، ذاكراً دواعي استعمالها وأنواعها، ووسائلها، وأصنافها وعند هذا الأخير توقف لذكر مصاديق كل صنف، حديثه وقديمه، ثم قسم عمل جميع هذه الوسائل إلى تاثيره بدوام المنع وتوقيته. أما المباحث الأخرى، فخصصها للحديث عن إجهاض النطفة، مجيباً فيه عن سؤال هام هل إجهاض النطفة مباح شرعاً أم هو عمل جنائي...؟ والإجابة على هذذ السؤال اقتضت من الباحث وضع مقدمة بيبّن فيها معنى النطفة وتحديد عمر طورها وهذا كله وفق الكتاب والسنة وآراء الفقهاء.
وإتماماً للفائدة ذكر المؤلف-باختصار-حكم الديانة المسيحية بمذهبيها الرئيسين: الكاثوليكي والأرثوذكسي، في منع الحمل وإجهاض النطفى، في حالات الاختيار والضرورة وباختلاف الدوافع. ملتزماً بتوثيق عرض الآراء بذكر مصادرها التي ناهزت الستين مصدراً مع تحديده طبعة الكتاب أو البحث أو المقال بالجزء والصفحة والمكان والزمان إن وجد.
