هذه الدراسة هي الثالثة في سلسلة الدراسات النقدية في الأدب المقارن التى أقدمها للقارئ المتميز الذي يسلك سبيل هذا الفرعٍ الحديث من فروع الأدب. وكانت أولي هذه الدراسات، دراسة عنوانها: ” في الأدب المقارن: أساطير وترجمات” أصدرتها الهيئة العامة لقصور الثقافة، وحظيت بتقديم ودراسة ملهمة من الأستاذ الدكتور أيمن تعيلب، رئيس تحرير سلسلة: وشرُفُت بدراسة نقدية لهذا الكتاب من لدن حكيم خبير هو العالم الجليل الأستاذ الدكتور عبد الباسط سعيد عطايا .أما الدراسة الثانية فهي: “في الأدب المقارن: بين امرئ القيس وويليام شيكسبير،” وهي تصدر عن المكتب العربي للمعارف. ومن مظاهر تلاقح الحضارات التى يهتم بها الأدب المقارن، أن ينهل دانتى آليجييري (1365-1321م) Dante Alighieri) من مناهل الأدب العربي:” رسالة الغفران “لأبي العلاء المعرى، والفتوحات المكية لمحي الدين ابن عربي Ibn Arabi (1165 – 1240م ( ومن العجيب أن يفقد الغرب كتاب فن الشعر” Poetics الذي كتبه أرسطو (384 -322ق.م.) بلغته الإغريقية، ولم يجدوه إلا في ترجمته العربية بمعرفة ابن رشد. وفي مقابل ذلك يفقد العرب مخطوطة كتاب الموسيقى الكبيرKitab Al Mousiqa al Kabir بأجزائه الأربعة الذي ألفه الفارابي، ولم يعثروا عليه إلا في نسخة مترجمة إلي الإنجليزية.
