استطاعت المرأة الأردنية بموجب التعديل الذي أدخل على قانون الإنتخاب الأردني لمجلس النواب عام 1974م، أن تحصل على حق الإنتخاب والترشيح لمجلس النواب، ولم تستطيع أن تمارس هذا الحق، إلا في الإنتخابات النيابية التكميلية عام 1984م، كناخبة فقط، حيث لم تترشح لهذه الإنتخابات أي امرأة، وفي عام 1982م تم تعديل قانون إنتخاب البلديات رقم (29) لعام 1955م وتعديلاته، حيث يتم منح المرأة الأردنية حق التصويت والترشيح في الإنتخابات البلدية.
وقد تم تقسيم الدراسة إلى فصل تمهيدي وثلاثة فصول أخرى، تناول الفصل التمهيدي إستعراض لهدف الدراسة والدراسات والأدبيات السابقة في مجال مشاركة المرأة الأردنية في الحياة السياسية، وتناول الفصل الأول النظام الإنتخابي والمشاركة السياسية وكذلك الكوتا النسائية، وتناول الفصل الثاني مشاركة المرأة الاردنية في الحياة السياسية، وتناول الفصل الثالث مشاركة المرأة الأردنية في الإنتخابات النيابية خلال الفترة (1989- 2007).
