مهدت دعوات النقاد - التي تمثلت بضرورة التحرر من سلطة الراوي العليم - إلى ظهور الرواية المتعددة الأصوات، بعد أن نبهوا إلى أهمية اختيار وجهة نظر مركزية في الرواية، من خلال وضع الأحداث داخل وعي الشخصيات، وتقديم السرد من خلالها؛ لما لهذه الطريقة من جمالية، تساهم في بعث الإحساس بواقعية الأحداث، بعد أن تم إقصاء صوت الراوي وإحلال أصوات الشخصيات محله. فانتقلت الرواية من الإكتفاء بالإعتماد على صوت واحد، يستحوذ على السرد برؤاه ولغته وأسلوبه، إلى الإعتماد على أصوات الشخصيات ورؤاها المختلفة والمضادة، التي تتعايش وتتقاطع داخل النص.
وكان لباختين الدور الأكبر في تحديد هذا المفهوم، وتفصيل القول النقدي فيه، من خلال دراسته لروايات دوستويفسكي. وقد اعتمدنا في دراستنا للرواية العراقية التي تحمل ملامح، أو ابعاد تعدد الأصوات، الواقعة ضمن المدة (1985-2010)، معتمدين منهج بوريس أوسبنسكي، وتقسيماته التي تخص وجهة النظر، ذلك أنها - برأينا - تعدّ الأنسب، لدراسة الرواية المتعددة الأصوات، لما تفترضه الأخيرة، من تعدد في الجوانب الإيديولوجية، والتعبيرية، والنفسية، وتعدد في المواقع الزمانية والمكانية للراوي والشخصيات، فضلاً عن اعتمادنا آراء نقاد آخرين ومقولاتهم، لإثراء رؤى الدراسة وتطلعاتها.
وقد تضمنت دراستنا ثلاثة فصول، يسبقها تمهيد نظري يبحث في (المقولات والتمثلات التنظيرية لمفهومي تعدد الأصوات ووجهة النظر في النقد الحديث). في الفصل الأول تناولنا وجهة النظر على المستوى الإيديولوجي، وفي الفصل الثاني تناولنا وجهة النظر على المستوى التعبيري. أما الفصل الثالث، فقد تناولنا فيه (وجهة النظر على المستوى النفسي، والمكاني، والزماني).
