يعتبر كتاب "روضة الناظر وجنة المناظر" من أهم الكتب في أصول الفقه الحنبلي، ويكفي أن يكون مؤلفه الإمام موفق الدين بن قدامه المقدسي الذي قال فيه شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية: "ما دخل الشام بعد الأوزاعي أفقه من الشيخ الموفق" وقد بذل الإمام موفق الدين جهده في تبيين الأصول بعبارة شافية كافية لذوي الاختصاص، ولكنها افتقرت إلى الشرح بعض التوسيع للمتعلمين والدارسين. فعمد الشيخ عبد القادر بن مصطفى بدران إلى التصدي لشرح هذا الكتاب، فأجاد في شرحه وأفاد. وقد تم الاعتناء بهذه الطبعة من الكتاب، فبذل المحقق جهده في تصحيح المتن والشرح، كما أولى الاهتمام للإخراج الفني الملائم للكتاب؛ مخرجا جميع الأحاديث الواردة في الكتاب، وواضعا بعض التعاليق المختصرة. وبالعودة إلى محتوى كتاب "روضة الناظر وجنة المناظر" وترتيب أبوابه نجد أن مؤلفه الإمام ابن قدامه المقدسي ذكر فيه أصول الفقه والاختلاف فيه ودليل كل قول على المختار. مبينا من ذلك ما يرتضيه، ومجيبا من خالفه فيه. بدأ بمقدمة وأتبعها بثانية أبواب الأول: في حقيقة الحكم وأقسامه. الثاني: في تفصيل الأصول وهي: الكتاب والسنة، والإجماع، والاستصحاب. الثالث: في بيان الأصول المختلف فيها. الرابع: في تقاسيم الكلام والأسماء. الخامس: في الأمر والنهي والعموم والإست ثناء والشرط وما يقتبس من الألفاظ من إشارتها وإيمائها. السادس: في القياس الذي هو فرع للأصول. السابع: في حكم المجتهد الذي يستثمر الحكم من هذه الأدلة والمقلد. الثامن: في ترجيحات الأدلة المتعارضة.
