عرفاناً منا بجميل القيادة الفذة الحكيمة وفضلها على الأمة العربية والإسلامية، كان لنا هذا العمل المتواضع الذي نقدمه هدية، متواضعة أيضاً، لصاحب السمو رئيس الدولة وأخوانه أصحاب السمو أعضاء المجلس الأعلى للاتحاد وحكام الإمارات، ولشعب دولة الامارات البار الأبي، الذي عاهد قيادته على الحفاظ على كيان الإتحاد، وكان وفياً لعهده، صادقاً في وعده. مع اعترافنا المسبق بقصورنا عن إيفاء هذا الموضوع حقه، لاننا ما أوتينا من العلم إلا قليلاً.
الإنجازات المعجزات كثيرة في دولة الإمارات. والحديث عنها يطول ولا ينتهي. لذا، فان ما سنقدمه في كتابنا هذا، وضمن حدود قدراتنا، ليس سوى غيض من فيض، نقدمه كهدية متواضعة بمناسبة اليوبيل الفضي لقيام دولة الامارات العربية المتحدة، يوم الثاني من ديسمبر 1996. ولأن حصادنا كان وفيراً بحيث يصعب حمله في جعبة واحدة، ارتأينا حمله في جعبتين، أو بالأحرى في كتابين: الكتاب الأول يتضمن ثلاثة أقسام، يتناول منها الامارات العربية في مراحل ما قبل الاتحاد، في حين يتطرق القسم الثاني إلى القيادة والكيان في دولة الامارات العربية المتحدة. أما القسم الثالث فيتضمن عرضاً للإنجازات الاقتصادية والتربوية والثقافية والاعلامية في دولة الامارات.
