ردة وارتداد ومرتدون وأرباب وأنبياء بلا نبوة وأدعياء للألوهية وأتباع لكل منهم في هذا المكان أوذاك. وكلهم يشكل خطراً إذا ما استفحل أمرهم في هدم المجتمع. إن لكل منهم آراء ومفاهيم قد تلتقي وقد تختلف والمهم عندهم تحقيق الغاية مهما كانت الوسيلة وما قد يقع من نتائج. كل هذا ينمو ويترعرع في مواطن الجهل حيث الظلام يخيم على عقولهم والبساطة في تفكيرهم. فالعلم والتنوير الفكري المتواصل للمجتمع تحميه من الانجراف وراء شخصيات معقدة ومريضة تدّعي الألوهية تارة والنبوة تارة أخرى. وإن إيمان الإنسان المغفل بأن هذا الشخص أو ذاك يحقق منفعة له فإنه يتفانى معه حتى النهاية وهنت تكمن الخطورة إذا ما كبر العدد وأصبح في إزدياد وجميعهم يناقدون وينفذون أوامر غير مسؤولة تعود على المجتمع وأمنه بالخطر. لقد كانت معانات الأنبياء مع الشعوب التي بعثوا إليها معانات حقيقية لما لاقوه من الإهانة والتعذيب والتكذيب. وإن الذين تنبؤوا في شعوب العالم بالتأكيد كانوا كثيرين ، أما الديانات السماوية فهي ثلاث من بينها الإسلام. وهذا الكتاب يتعلق بالذين ادعوا أنهم آلهة أو أنبياء ، وما هم من ذلك بشيء إنما هو محض افتراء ودخل وتضليل للعامة من الناس وكان لهم من وراء ذلك أغراض أخرى. ويتناول الكتاب الذين ادعوا النبوة في العصر الجاهلي ، وصدر الإسلام ، والعصر الأموي ، والعصر العباسي ، وفي القرون المتأخرة.
