هذا الكتاب أثر بارز من آثار جلال الدين السيوطي، فهو ثالث وآخر كتاب خصص الإعراب الحديث النبوي تضمّه المكتبة العربية، فلم يسبقه في هذا المجال غير كتابين هما: (إعراب الحديث النبوي) لأبي البقاء العكبري المتوفى سنة 616 للهجرة، و(شواهد التوضيح لمشكلات الجامع الصحيح) لابن مالك المتوفى سنة 672 للهجرة.
والكتاب ذو صلة وثيقة بعلمين عزيزين شريفين هما: علم الحديث النبوي، وعلم النحو العربي، ومن هذا الإتصال يكتسب قيمة كبيرة، ومادته تكشف عن جانب مهم من جوانب النشاط النحوي الذي اتخذ من الحديث النبوي ميداناً له.
ولقد تعرفت إلى هذا الكتاب إبّان تحضيري لدرجة الدكتوراه التي كان موضوعها: القضايا النحوية في كتب إعراب الحديث النبوي، ومنذ ذلك الحين توثقت صلتي به، واستهوتني تلك الكنوز من الآراء النحوية التي يحتويها، وأغرمت بتلك الإجتهادات النحوية التي أخذها السيوطي عن علماء الحديث وشراحه أو اضافها هو، وبتلك المناقشات الطريفة التي تمزج النحو والبلاغة بأصول الفقه، فعلماء الأصول والفقهاء لا يتقيدون - في كثير من الأحيان - بالقواعد النحوية الصارمة إذا تعارضت مع المقصد الشرعي للحديث، بل يبحثون ببراعة فائقة عن تأويل يوائم بين المقصد الشرعي والقاعدة النحوية، ولذا كان لهذا الكتاب نكهته الخاصة.
