الواقع أن الفنون الشعبية وما تحمله من أوزان وبحور لم تكن من إبتكار ممارسيها، بل هي مأثورات شعبية تعامل بها المجتمع العربي منذ القدم ووصلت إلى حاضرنا عبر النقل الشفاهي، مع عدم إنكار فضل أولئك المبدعين الذين حافظوا على الموروث الغنائي العربي بممارستهم له، ونسجوا على منواله تلك الفنون التي تعد جزءاً أساسياً من نسيجهم الثقافي، وما ينطبق على إقتباس معاني الشعر ينطبق على الأوزان والإيقاعات والألحان فهي تتداول عن طريق الحفظ من جيل إلى جيل، وتسبك من جديد بما يتواءم وظروف العصر الذي تشتهر به، فلا يمكن أ، تنسب لممارسيها أو من اشتهر بتداولها دون الإلتفات إلى أصولها ومنابعها. لذا فهدف هذه الدراسةهو تسليط الضوء على بعض النماذج لأوزان الإيقاعات الشعبية الكويتية وحاولة إيجاد علاقتها بالأوزان لبحور الشعر العربي بأنواعها المهملة: أوزان المولدين، أوزان الفنون السبعة، كإثبات لإنتماء الإيقاعات الشعبية الكويتية إلى جذور تاريخية ترتبط بأوزان التراث العربي الأصيل والتي أهملت عبر الزمن. وتتناول هذه الدراسة أربعة فصول: (الفصل الأول: يتناول بحور الشعر المهملة والفنون السبعة، والفصل الثاني: يتناول الأوزان الشعبية عند الحضر والبادية، والفصل الثالث: أوزان بحور الشعر في الإيقاعات الشعبية، والفصل الرابع: إشكالية التقطيع العروضي).
