يُقيّم أي مؤلف تاريخي بمقدار ما يضيفه من معلومات إلى ما هو معروف، ولعل الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا مما يقع ضمن هذا الإعتبار، بوصفه قد قدم لنا ما ليس معروفاً عن إمارات العرب في نجد، وكانت جلّ أخباره مُنصبّة على (إمارة آل الرشيد) في حائل.
ولعل من الممكن القول، بأن كِتابي سليمان الدخيل (تاريخ إمارات العرب) و(القول السديد)... يقعان ضمن المؤلفات المهتمة بالأنساب، هذا الإهتمام الذي ظهر عند كتابنا القدامى وبدرجة أقل بكثير عند مُحدثيهم.
فلو راجعنا كتب الأنساب في التراث العربي الإسلامي لوجدناها كثيرة، ولا نجد ما يقاربها في هذا المنحى إلا القليل، سواء بين الكتّاب العراقيين أم النجديين المعاصرين، وربما كان هذا هو أحد الدوافع التي دفعت بمؤلفنا للإتجاه نحو الكتابة عن أنساب القبائل العربية الموجودة في نجد وحائل، وإن تطرق إلى معلومات أخرى إقتصادية وسياسية في كتابيه.
