عثرت ذات مرة في مكتبتي القديمة علي كتاب اسمه (المدد الفائض عن شرح ديوان سيد عمر بن الفارض)، ونظراً لما جاء في مقدمتها من كلام نفيس حول توثيق الديوان، رأيت أن أقيم أودها، وأصحح أخطاءها وأعيد نشرها لمحبي ابن الفارض الذي وصفه معاصره فقالوا (هو العارف بالله تعالي سلطان العاشقين ومربي المريدين المستمد من عطاء وبه الفائض شرف الدين سيدي عمر بن الفارض قدس الله سره وأفاض علينا بره ومنحنا من بعض كراماته ونفعنا بعلومه ومؤلفاته والمسلمين، كان رحمه الله تعالي معتدل القامة ووجهه جميل مشرف بحمرة باهرة وإذا استمع وتواجد وغلب عليه الحال يزدد وجهه جمالاً ونوراً.
وقد جاء في مقدمة تلك النشرة التي أشرت إليها: فيقول العبد الفقير المعترف بذنبه المغترف من نهر عطاء ربه علي سبط الشيخ يوسف بن الفارض الراجي كرم ربه الفائض عفا الله برحمته عن خطئه وعمده وتداركه برحمة من عنده نظرت في نسخ من ديوان شيخنا قدس الله سره وشرح صدره إليه وسره فرأيت النساخ قد جهلوا بعض كلامه وما عرفوه واشتبه عليهم شئ من جناسه فصحفوه وأخرجوه بذلك عن أصله ولم يردوه إلي أهله فاستخرت الله تعالي واستعنت به في تحرير هذه النسخة المباركة وسلكت فيها بكلامه مسالكه معتمداً في ذلك علي نسخة عندي من أثره محررة وصحفها من التحريف والتصحيف.
