لما كانت قصائد الشيخ العارف شرف الدين أبي حفص عمر الفارض من أعذب القصائد التي احتوت أشرف الألفاظ والمعاني في محبة الله تعالى والتقرب إليه سبحانه، فقد اهتم الشراح والدارسون عبر العصور في شرح دقائقها وبيان معانيها ومراميها. وقد قيض الله تعالى لابن الفارض سبطاً كريماً له اسمه علي، فجمع قصائده في ديوان هو ديوان ابن الفارض المتناول الآن بين الجميع.
وقد اهتم جمع من العلماء بشرح هذا الديوان، ومن أهم هذه الشروح شرح الشيخ عبد الغني النابلسي وشرح الشيخ حسن البوريني، وقد تم جمع هذين الشرحين في هذا الكتاب حيث أخذ شرح البوريني برمته، مع إضافة بنبذة من كلام الشيخ النابلسي عند آخر شرح كل بيت، باستثناء ديباجة الديوان وتذبيل العينية للشيخ علي، سبط الناظم، التي تم نقلها برمتها من مجموع الشيخ النابلسي.
