كنت كلما التقيت بصديقاتي وانتظم عقد "الشلة" في بيت واحدة منا حول فنجان شاي أو بأحد "الكافيهات"، سرعان ما تتحول دفة الحديث حول موضوع واحد لا يتغير: الشكوى المرة من كم المعاكسات والتحرشات التي وصلت إلى معدلات مجنونة وبشعة!
فقد أصبح خروج المرأة من بيتها يعني أنه يتعين عليها توقع الأسوأ إلى أن يحدث العكس، وأن تعيش في توتر حقيقي وتحت ضغط عصبي- ولو خفي- كلما اقترب من فضائها شخص ينتمي للجنس الآخر!
إزاء هذا الواقع المأساوي، كان لا بد أن أفعل شيئًا، قررت في البداية القراءة حول الموضوع، وكانت المفاجأة: لا يوجد أي كتاب صادر عن دار نشر مصرية أو عربية يتناول ظاهرة التحرش الجنسي بشكل مفصل وشامل. هذه الملاحظة أثارت حسي البحثي وقررت الاشتغال أكاديميًا على هذه الظاهرة، وحاولت قدر المستطاع الالتزام بالمنهج العلمي مع الحفاظ على السلاسة والبساطة في العرض مستفيدة من خلفيتي الصحفية.
ولم تتوقف الصعوبات عند هذا الحد، فلم يكن سهلًا أن تخضع مئة امرأة لاستطلاع رأي حول التحرش الجنسي، فالكثيرات رفضن المشاركة ومعظم من وافقن اشترطن إخفاء هويتهن! والمدهش أنه في استطلاع الرأي الذي شمل عينه موازية من الرجال حدث نفس "التهرب" أو المشاركة مع إخفاء الهوية!
لقد أصبح التحرش الجنسي كابوسًا يوميًا تعيشه المرأة في الشارع والمواصلات وأماكن العمل، والكل يتعامل معه باعتباره "قضاءًا وقدرًا" ولا حيلة لنا فيه، وهذا بالضبط هو المفهوم الذي أردت أن أغيره، من خلال تلك المحاولة المتواضعة.. لعل وعسى؛ لذا كانت فصول الدراسة كالتالي: [الفصل الأول: نتائج صادمة، الفصل الثاني: ... وبماذا يرد الرجال؟، الفصل الثالث: كيف نفهم ظاهرة التحرش؟، الفصل الرابع: التحرش كظاهرة عربية، الفصل الخامس: التحرش كظاهرة عالمية، الفصل السادس: القانون لا يحمي الضحايا، الفصل السابع: التحرش في ميزان الإسلام، الفصل الثامن: التحرش... خطيئة مسيحية، الفصل التاسع: الضحايا يعترفن سرًا، الفصل العاشر: التربية هي الحل، الفصل الحادي عشر: مصطلحات ومفاهيم].
