في روايتها "شاهد من إشبيلية" تبحث الكاتبة الإماراتية منى التميمي عن شواهد التاريخ في الجغرافيا. فمن ربوع إشبيلية إلى ديار مكة تروي لنا (حكاية مالك بن غدير الإشبيلي وصاحبه نجم الدين) حكاية، تنجدل بأصواتٍ من هنا وهناك تخبرنا عن أرض الأجداد.
حكاية، هي أعمق ما كُتب عن تاريخ الأندلس وحضارة العرب في السرد العربي المعاصر.
وفي الرواية يُكلف "مالك" القيام برحلة من إشبيلية إلى مكة بعد أن أرسله والده إلى عمته في أرض الحجاز، لمراعاتها بعد وفاة زوجها، الذي مات تاركاً لها بستاناً وضِياعاً وأملاكاً، وبعد أن يثبت الأمر سوف يعود وصاحبه الذي رافقه "نجم الدين" إلى إشبيلية ومنها إلى قرطبة قاصداً حلمه بالعمل في سوق الوراقين فقراءة الأدب والشعر والتاريخ هي عشقه الذي لا يتخلى عنه. وعندما يحين موعد العودة يبدأ مالك وصحبه رحلة من نوع آخر براً عبر الصحاري والقفار القاحلة، وبحراً عبر السفن؛ وصولاً إلى إشبيلية إلاّ أن الأمر الذي لم يتوقعه الراحلون أنهم سيدخلون في أرضٌ مُلغّزة!!
ويبقى الكلام عن "شاهد من إشبيلية" ناقصاً، ما لم نتوقف مليًّا عن تلك اللغة الروائية الأدبية الأنيقة العالية، المتميزة والمتفردة، بصوغها الشكلي، كما بدلالاتها التصويرية التي تجمع بين سمتي الواقعية السحرية والسمة الخيالية، وبهذه اللغة والتقنيات والخطاب قدّمت منى التميمي أثراً روائياً ماتعاً، استوحت مادته الأوّلية من التاريخ، وأعادت صياغته بفنية الروائية الخبيرة.
