التاريخ خزان تجارب الأمم وثقافاتها وهو مادة دسمة للباحثين الذين يحاولون الكشف عن العوامل التي تقف وراء صناعة الأحداث وتقود إليها. وهذه الدراسة التي يقدمها الدكتور صلاح خالص دراسة أدبية بالمقام الأول تهدف إلى دراسة النصوص الأدبية التي خلقها الأندلسيون الاشبيليون في القرن الخامس بغية تحليلها وفهمها ومعرفة موقعها في الأدب الأندلسي. لذا كان تناول تاريخ إشبيلية مقدمة ضرورية لفهم المكونات الثقافية والفكرية التي تقف وراء منتجي هذه النصوص.
الكتاب يقع في ثلاثة فصول، خصص الفصل الأول لدراسة التكوين الاجتماعي والاقتصادي للمجتمع الأندلسي، كما بحث في الأرستقراطية الأندلسية والطبقات التي كانت سائدة في المجتمع، أما الفصل الثاني فهو يبحث في استقلال اشبيلية السياسي وانحلال الخلافة في قرطبة، أما الفصل الثالث والأخير فيعرض لدراسة الحياة الأدبية في اشبيلية بين عامي 414-461 ويعرض لدراسة نماذج من شعراء اشبيلية أبرزهم المعتضد وأبو عامر بن سلم وأبو جعفر بن الأبار، وأبو الوليد بن زيدون وغيرهم...
