تتعرض المجتمعات العربية على اختلافها وتنوعها بقدر من العوامل والمسببات التي تؤدي إلى ظهور سلوكيات وظواهر اجتماعية غريبة عنها، فتتضافر العديد من العوامل السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية على فرض تغيرات في نمط السلوك المعتاد في المجتمع العربي والإسلامي، ومن أهم الظواهر الغريبة والتي باتت تشكل خطرًا حقيقيًا مشكلات العنف داخل المجتمع وأفراده بعضهم بعض، وما يحدث داخل المؤسسات التعليمية أيضًا، كذلك الزواج العرفي والانحراف الجنسي وتزايد حالات الطلاق وأيضًا إدمان الانترنت.
هذه المشكلات الاجتماعية هي موضوع كتابنا هذا والذي أعده "الدكتور إبراهيم جابر السيد" لإلقاء الضوء على هذه الظواهر والمشكلات في محاولة لكشف أسبابها والتصدي لها.
وقد جاء الكتاب وفقًا لذلك مقسمًا إلى بابين: يتناول الباب الأول ما يتعلق بالدراسة من أدوات ومنهج وأهداف، ثم المشكلات السلوكية وأسبابها وعوامل تشجيعها، وكذلك طريقة خدمة الفرد والضبط الاجتماعي وما إلى ذلك.
أما الباب الثاني فيختص بمشكلات الزواج العرفي، والخرافة، والختان والتحرش الجنسي وأخيرًا العنف بكافة صوره.
فالكتاب يمثل إضافة حقيقية للمكتبة الاجتماعية العربية، يبين لنا ماهية هذه المشكلات وعواملها ويقدم بعض الحلول وسبل النجاة منها، في محاولة لعدم الاندفاع نحو مزيدًا من السوء في مجتمعاتنا العربية.
