إنّ هذه القراءة المستحدثة ليست إلاّ إعادة تأهيل للنظريّة الزيدية للإمامة والتي عفى عليها الزمن، إذ إن نقطة الخلاف بين الشيعة الإمامية والشيعة الزيدية هي أن الشيعة الإمامية يشترطون النصّ الإلهي والعصمة للإمام والتأييد الإلهي العلم والمعجزات، أمّا الزيديّة فقد اكتفوا بإشتراط كون الإمام فاطميّاً وأن يكون عالماً زاهداً متصدّياً للأمر من خلال قيامه بالسيف على الظلمة.
ومن هنا، فإنّ (القراءة المنسية) في الحقيقة هي إستيراد لنظرية الزيدية في الإمامة، وتغليفها بغلاف جديد لا أكثر، وعلماء الشيعة المتقدّمون لم يتركوا شاردة ولا واردة إلاّ وتعرّضوا لها ضمن كتبهم الكلاميّة والعقديّة، وفنّدوا آراء مخالفيهم في المناظرات التي دوّنتها الكتب.
