السادية Sadisim هي الميل للحصول على اللذة والمتعة عن طريق تعذيب الاخر والتللذذ بعذابه. وهي من الناحية السايكولوجية اضطراب في الرغبة الجنسية يتضمن معانات نفسية وجسدية وفكرية. وقد اشتقت الكلمة من اسم ضابط وروائي فرنسي يدعى ماركيز دو ساد(1740-1814) Marquis de Sade.، الذي اشتهر بسلوكه العدواني واضطراب سلوكه الجنسي وساديته ولذلك سمي الاضطراب الجنسي بأسمه. وقد ألف دي ساد روايتين هما جوستين وجوليت.
اما المازوشية أو المازوخية Masochism فهي اضطراب نفسي يقابل الاضطراب السادي من حيث هو رغبة للخضوع لعدوانية السادي. وقد اشتقت الكلمة من أسم كاتب نمساوي يدعى ليوبولد زاخر مازوخ (1836-1895)Lepold Zacher Masoch واشتهر بتأليف روايةquot; فينوس في الفراء quot;. ومع اختلاف كل منهما في الفكر والسلوك، فان عاملا مشتركا يجمعهما معا هو الحصول على اللذة والمتعة عن طريق الالم. فالسادي يجد لذته في ايقاع الالم على الاخر، في حين يجد المازوشي لذته بوقوع الالم عليه من قبل الاخر.
