هذه الدراسة لا تعني بتحديد القضية ودراستها فحسب، بل إنها- وهذا هو اتجاهها الأساسي- تهتم بتوضيح مدى شيوع الظاهرة الأسلوبية أو ندرتها مستخدمة في ذلك المنهج الإحصائي.
ويقوم هذا البحث على ثلاث ركائز أساسية: الأولى: الوصف، الثانية: التحليل، الثالثة: استخلاص النتائج.
وهذا البحث يتناول أبرز القضايا التركيبية في شعر البارودي مستخدماً في ذلك المصطلحات البلاغية والنحوية باعتبارها وسائل إجرائية لدراسة الظواهر الأسلوبية، حيث إن العلاقة بين الأسلوبية وكل من البلاغة والنحو وثيقة ومؤكدة.
وتقع هذه الدراسة في سبعة فصول: الفصل الأول: "الأسلوب والأسلوبية": ويتناول تحديد مفهوم الأسلوب من زواياه الثلاثة: المخاطِب والخطاب والمخاطَب، والبحث عن أصول الأسلوبية في التراث من المنظورين: النحوي والبلاغي، كما يدرس هذا الفصل العلاقة بين الأسلوبية وكل من البلاغة والنقد الأدبي.
الفصل الثاني "التحليل الأسلوبي": وفيه عرض لأهمية هذا التحليل وكيفيته ومحاذيره، ثم عرض لبعض الدراسات الأسلوبية المعاصرة في مجال التحليل الأسلوبي.
الفصل الثالث: "التناوب" ويقصد به إحلال لفظ محل لفظ آخر، أو أداة محل غيرها، أو حرف محل ما يناظره. وينقسم إلى تناوب الأفعال، وتناوب في الأسماء، وآخر في المصادر، ورابع في الحروف.
الفصل الرابع: "الحذف": وفيه تحليل لمواضع حذف المسند إليه في الجملة الأسمية، وحذف المسند والمسند إليه في الجملة الفعلية، وحذف المسند والمسند إليه والاكتفاء بالمفعول المطلق، وحذفهما لوجود قرينة على حذفهما، وحذفهما في التراكيب الشائعة. ويتعرض الفصل أيضاً للحذف في التركيب الشرطي، ثم لحذف النعت والمنعوت، والمستغاث به، والمستغاث لأجله، والمعطوف عليه.
الفصل الخامس: "الاعتراض": ويقصد به اعتراض كلام بين عنصرين متلازمين. وفيه دراسة لظواهر الاعتراض بين عناصر الجملة الفعلية، وبين عناصر الجملة الأسمية بركنيها المبتدأ والخبر والجملة الأسمية المنسوخة بإن أو إحدى أخواتها، ثم الاعتراض بين النعت والمنعوت، واخيراً الاعتراض في التركيب الشرطي.
الفصل السادس: "التقديم والتأخير": ويدرس السمات العامة للتقديم والتأخير.
