هذا الكتاب قراءة في سيرة الإمام العاشر أبو الحسن الثالث عليّ بن محمد الهادي (توفي 254ه) مؤلف الكتاب هو الخطيب الشيخ محمد رضا الحكيمي الحائري (ولد سنة 1937 - توفي سنة 1992) قدم بتمهيد عن مكانة الإمام الهادي عليه السلام عند أهل البيت وأتبع ذلك بقصيدة في مدح الإمام للشيخ بهاء الدين أبي الحسن بن عيسى الاربلي، وذكر مناقبه كما وردت عند المحدثين مثل إسماعيل بن مهران، وزيد بن زيد وابراهيم بن العباس وآخرون، وساق بعض الآيات المؤولة في حق أهل البيت عليهم السلام، وقبسات من علمه وإخباره بموت والده الجواد، وشيء من مواعظه وحكمه وشعره وبعضاً من مناظراته عليه السلام وإجابته على كثير من المسائل "في الرد على أهل الجبر والتفويض" وأجوبته ليحي بن أكثم في دار العامة عن مسائل لافتية فيها؛ وعن آيات من القرآن الكريم، وفي أجوبته عن مسائل "إبن السكيت" عن سبب بعث الله موسى عليه السلام بالعصا وعيسى عليه السلام بالإبراء والإحياء، ومحمد صلى الله عليه وسلم بالقرآن، وفي إخباره عليه السلام الحسن بن مسعود عن الأيام، وكيفية تعتيته عند المتوكل في جوابه عن العباس عم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن طريق المسعودي، كما يذكر الكتاب بعض معجزاته ومنها علمه باللغات ومنها: التركي والهندي ولغة الصقالبة، وعلمه بنزول المطر وقضاء الحوائج، وفي ظهوره لأصحابه بأشكال متعددة، ... وفي إجابته عليه السلام عمّا كتب وعما أضمر ولم يُكتب ... وأخيراً وفاته والرثاء عليه شعراً ...
