"أموت على عقيدة عجائز نيسابور" عبارة قالها أبو المعالي الجوينيّ قبل رحيله؛ فما سرّ (عجائز نيسابور) وانتمائها إلى قاموس فراش الموت؟ الجواب عند الكاتب محمد عبد الله الهويمل الذي يجهد في إعطاء القارئ المفاتيح القادرة على تلقي النص وقراءته من زاوية عالِمٍ في فنون الشريعة، هو أبو المعالي الجويني، وقد فكك الكاتب مروياته وفلسفته الدينية والروحية واختلافها مع المذاهب الأخرى، كعقيدة السلف والصوفية وغيرها بين دفتي كتابه الذي وسمه بـ "عجائز نيسابور: قوة الضعف وجمالياته"، والكتاب يرصد السيرة العلمية للفقيه والمفكر أبو المعالي الجوينيّ في شتى المعارف الشرعية والكلامية والفلسفية. وهو الفقيه الذي عُرف عنه أنه من نخبة الأشاعرة المتكلمين، الذين ترسموا لمذهبهم خطوطاً عريضة، ونظّروا لأدوات الوعي والتأويل لإدراك الحقائق الغيبية، ذات الصلة بدين الله وكنهه، ومحددات صفاته... يتألف الكتاب من عدد من الوحدات السردية التي جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "اللحظة العذراء"، "الاحتضارُ يبدع لغتَه"، "العجائز والغيب"، "(عجائز نيسابور)، مكان يعاقب الزمان"، "فُجاءةُ الجوينيّ بين العلم والقلب"، "الخوفُ قوةً وجمالاً"، "الضعف قوةً وجمالاً"، "رفاهية التفويض"، "شَعْبُ نيسابور".
