رواية عربية، من المغرب، تستدرج حياة الكاتبة الأميركية جيرترود ستاين (1874 - 1946) إلى لعبة سردية، فانطلاقا من زيارتها إلى طنجة عام 1912، ولقائها بشاب مغربي، وعلاقتها بماتيس، بيكاسو، هيمنغواي، فيزجرالد أناييس، وآخرين، وكذا إقامتها الباريسية الدائمة بشقتها في 27 شارع دوفلوريس، وصالونها الفني والأدبي الشهير، يندس الشاعر والكاتب حسن نجمي في متخيل خصب بالتداعيات والإحالات، حافل بمناخات الأدب والتصوير الجديدين، وببعض الأسماء الكبرى في تاريخ الحركات الطليعية في الفن الحديث.
طنجة وباريس في بدايات القرن العشرين، ومدن وأمكنة أخرى، وبيكاسو وهو يرسم البورتريه التكعيبي لجيرترود، الذي أنجزه بعد 87 جلسة في عزلة محترفة، حيث استسلمت الكاتبة كموديل ليفعل بها الفنان "ما شاء"، على الأقل، كما خمن ذلك الشاب المندهش القادم من طنجة إلى باريس، الذي سلبته الأضواء والمادة الجسدية اسمه وبعض توازنه وألقت به إلى "هاوية النكران".
