لم تحظ، على الأغلب، أي قضية باهتمام الأمم المتحدة مثل قضية فلسطين والصراع العربي – الصهيوني. فمنذ سنة 1948 صدرت في كل حالة من حالات الصراع قرارات لم تكتف بالإشارة إلى الأحداث بل ساهمت، في بعض الحالات، في بلورتها. ونظراً إلى أهمية هذه القرارات أدركت مؤسسة الدراسات الفلسطينية، منذ زمن بعيد، ضرورة جمعها ووضعها في متناول الباحثين وصانعي السياسة وغيرهم من المهتمين بشؤون الشرق الأوسط.
وهذا هو المجلد السابع من هذه المجموعة الفريدة، المؤلفة من سبع مجلدات، والتي تضم للمرة الأولى نصوص جميع القرارات الخاصة بالقضية الفلسطينية والصراع العربي ـ الإسرائيلي من سنة 1947 إلى سنة 2011. ولا تشمل هذه القرارات تلك الصادرة عن مجلس الأمن والجمعية العامة فحسب، بل تشمل أيضاً قرارات جميع المنظمات التابعة والوكالات المتخصصة المعنية. المجلدات سهلة الاستعمال ويحتوي كل واحد منها على مرشد للقرارات بحسب موضوعاتها، وعلى قائمة متسلسلة زمنياً للقرارات بحسب الوكالات التي تصدرها، وعلى فهرست. وبالإضافة إلى قوائم التصويت التي تلي كل قرار، تحتوي المجلدات السبعة على ملاحق بجداول التصويت لمجلس الأمن والجمعية العامة، الأمر الذي يتيح للقارئ تتبع الأصوات المعطاة لأي قرار وأنماط التصويت الخاصة بالدول الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة. إن مجموعة قرارات الأمم المتحدة عمل مرجعي موثق لا غنى عنه لمندوبي الأمم المتحدة والدبلوماسيين والأكاديميين والإعلاميين المعنيين بقضايا الشرق الأوسط.
